Rudy Owens is a pitcher with the Houston Astros, bats left and throws left. He was drafted in the 28th round, 830th overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2006. After attending Chandler-Gilbert Community College for the 2007 baseball season he signed with the Pirates as a draft-and-follow prospect. In 2009 he was names Class-A All-Star. South Atlantic League All-Star and South Atlantic League Most Outstanding Pitcher after going 10-1 with a 1.70 ERA in 19 games.

On July 24, 2012, he was traded to the Houston Astros and has remained with the team through 2013.
